How To Stay Aligned In Uncertain Times


Today marks a pivotal moment in our US history. Many of us feel the weight of the decisions being made, feeling vulnerable about what the future holds. At times like this, fear and uncertainty can pull at our peace and fill us with anxiety. But no matter the outcome, we can remember that our power to stay aligned, present, and hopeful is still within us. Here are some practices and perspectives that can help you stay centered, ease anxiety, and connect to hope. You’re gonna like #6 🥰

1. Ground Yourself in the Present Moment

When we feel anxious, our minds often spin through worst-case scenarios and hypothetical outcomes. Grounding brings you back to the present, where your true power resides. Try this simple practice:

  • Find a quiet space. Close your eyes, and take three slow, deep breaths.
  • Feel your feet on the ground, or place your hand on your heart. Remind yourself, “I am safe right here, right now.”
  • If your mind drifts, gently guide it back to your breath, repeating the words, “I am anchored, I am safe, I am here.”

Grounding yourself brings you back to a place where you can breathe freely and feel more peace, no matter what’s happening around you.

2. Visualize Your Brightest Outcome

Fear can trick us into believing that we are helpless or doomed. To counter this, choose to envision a positive future. Imagine the highest possible good for yourself and the world. This isn’t about ignoring reality but creating a vision that you can focus on and feel empowered by.

  • Visualize a world where everyone has freedom, justice, and peace. Imagine a future where kindness and understanding lead.
  • See yourself living confidently and joyfully in this world. Picture yourself in harmony, feeling safe, and surrounded by love.

Hold onto this vision. It reminds you that positive change is possible and that you are contributing to it just by keeping hope alive.

3. Reframe Your Thoughts to Reclaim Your Power

Anxiety often makes us feel as if everything is spiraling out of our control. To ease this, practice gentle reframing:

  • Instead of thinking, “What if everything goes wrong?” try asking, “What if things turn out better than I expect?”
  • Shift from “I don’t know what to do” to “I will know what to do, moment by moment, as it arises.”

When you catch yourself spiraling, take a deep breath and remind yourself, “I am resilient. I have faced difficult times before and come through.” This mental shift can help bring calm to chaos and remind you of your own inner strength.

4. Practice Gratitude to Anchor in Positivity

In uncertain times, gratitude becomes a powerful anchor. It doesn’t mean ignoring the challenges; it’s about recognizing the goodness that still exists.

  • Today, list three things you’re grateful for, big or small.
  • Notice how this simple practice shifts your focus from worry to appreciation.

Gratitude helps us build resilience and reminds us that beauty and goodness exist even in the most uncertain times.

5. Connect with a Community or Support Network

Sometimes, the most comforting reminder is that we are not alone. Reach out to people who share your values and concerns. Spend time with friends, family, or online communities that uplift you and foster a sense of hope.

  • Engage in heart-centered conversations with loved ones. Talk about your vision, what gives you hope, and the ways you plan to contribute positively to the world… no matter the outcome.
  • If anxiety becomes overwhelming, consider speaking with a therapist, spiritual advisor, or counselor who can help you process emotions in a healthy way.

Staying connected with a support network can ease feelings of isolation and strengthen our collective resolve for a brighter future.

6. Hold the Belief That We Are Not Going Back

Progress has always faced resistance, but remember, true progress always finds a way forward. Always. History is full of examples where positive change has been delayed but never completely denied. We may encounter setbacks, but humanity’s forward momentum is ultimately unstoppable.

  • Remind yourself of this truth: “We may be tested, but we are not turning back.”
  • Hold onto hope. Anchor in the belief that we are part of the change and that the world will keep moving forward, toward equality, compassion, and understanding.
  • Each time fear or doubt arises, repeat this mantra: “We are not going back. We are moving forward.”

7. Turn Down the Noise

In times like these, the constant stream of media can amplify our stress. Minimize TV, the news, and watching pre-election polls. By reducing media exposure, you protect your peace and create space for more uplifting activities.

  • Instead, focus on things that nurture you: get to work, take a nap, spend time outside, meditate, or connect with loved ones.
  • Remember, peace is a choice, and sometimes, choosing less media is the best way to reclaim it.

Turning down the noise allows you to stay centered and grounded, keeping your energy focused on what you can control. By focusing on these small, positive actions, you are contributing to a wave of change. 🌊

As we face this uncertain time together, remember that peace, love, and hope are within reach. You are resilient, you are powerful, and we are collectively creating the future. Choose to stay grounded, hold onto hope, and anchor yourself in the belief that we are all moving forward.
