I love the excitement of the new year and all the possibilities it brings! Something happens in the darkest days of winter that sparks our inner light – causing us to crave more than short, dark, cold days. After our long winter’s rest, we become restless and hungry for more. It’s our nature to always grow and evolve and these desires guide us to our highest path.
That’s what makes the new year the perfect time to manifest new dreams and desires… and you know, I’m all about manifesting! In this post, I’ll share my number one secret weapon for manifesting a life you want and love and then some secondary tools to help you sustain your intentions.
Secret Weapon Manifesting Tool
I bet you think I’m talking about creating a vision board. I’m not. Yes, it’s one visual tool to keep your dreams and intentions in plain site, but I’m talking about something fundamentally more powerful and that is YOU and your all-powerful, limitless, all-creative IMAGINATION.
Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.
Albert einstein
The beauty of your imagination is that it’s unlimited and completely free to use. The problem is that most people don’t use it to their benefit. We’re all using our imaginations… some intentionally and others by reacting to what they see around them. Let me give you an example. When you’re blowing out your birthday candles, you are intentionally using your imagination to make a wish for something positive. When you watch the evening news and witness violence and despair, you worry for your safety. Worry is using your imagination upside down or in the negative. Either way, you’re creating your reality.
Sound harsh? I don’t mean to. Instead, I intend to demonstrate why using your imagination with purpose and intention is paramount and necessary to manifesting well. Your imagination is broadcasting your innermost thoughts, dreams, desires, hopes, and fears out into the receptive universe that, like a magnet or boomerang, returns them to you, the sender. We live under the law of attraction or the law of vibration. There’s no escape, so you might as well learn to leverage it in your favor so you can create your world your way.
Imagination Redirection
You’re human, so of course you’re going to have negative or worrisome thoughts that conjure images of doom and gloom in your imagination. Not to worry, there is a buffer of time between your imaginings and manifestations. The secret sauce here is to redirect your imagination simply by noticing what you don’t want and then imagining what you prefer instead.
“Determined imagination, thinking from the end, is the beginning of all miracles.”
neville goddard
I practice what I call “Imagitation” which is simply a meditation where I sit quietly with my eyes closed and imagine my preferred outcome in great detail. I allow myself to get into the feeling state of having accomplished whatever it is I’m imagining. It’s my best medicine for anxiety when I’m worried and by far the best tool I’ve ever leveraged for manifesting anything!
Redirection takes intention and practice but each time you repeat an automatic negative thought you’ll catch yourself sooner and establish new, healthier mental habits that empower you to your ability to change and improve your reality. You will amaze yourself once you get the hang of this!
What do you want?
This is the best question to ask yourself. As you do, allow the dreams, desires, hopes, and visions to rise! This is not the time for rational thought. That will kill your manifestation in its tracks. Instead, be childlike and play in your mind’s eye (like you used to)! Have fun imagining a life you only once or twice dared to dream. Try it on. Take it for a ride. What does it look like? How do you feel? Who’s there with you?
When your rational mind reminds you that you can’t do that for whatever reason, it’s time to redirect and remember that you live in an entirely responsive universe that is always yielding to YOU. You are only limited by your imagination and what you believe is possible for you. Is it time to expand your view of what’s possible?
Secondary Manifesting Tools
Since imagination is a mental function, it can be helpful to utilize physical tools to help maintain and sustain our desires and intentions. I’ll share the tools I find to be most valuable for manifesting my dreams. Some cost a little cash, but most are free… just like your powerhouse of an imagination.

Watch YouTube videos.
Most of us are visual and feeding our imaginations with video is simple, free, and powerful. I have dreams of traveling the world and starting in South America. YouTube has a plethora of videos about digital nomads, traveling retirees, and expats living abroad. It not only fuels my fire to watch these beautiful scenic videos, but I also learn a lot which helps my rational mind believe that traveling is not only doable but the videos show me how. This calms my monkey mind and allows the dream to flow making me even more magnetic to my desire to travel… making it inevitable!
What’s your dream? What would you like to see manifest into your reality in 2024? I guarantee you there’s a YouTube video about it. Is it starting an online business, becoming financially free, attracting the love of your life, or experiencing optimum health? Let others who have already achieved these things be a beacon of inspiration for you. Ride their wave and see where it takes you!
Read inspirational manuals for manifesting.
There are good books and then there are manuals that speak truth to your spirit. I recommend those! Here are two of my all-time favorites.
The Neville Collection
I read this book over and over. It is literally my manifesting Bible. It contains all 10 of Neville Goddard’s books. Some are more interesting to me than others, but the books on Imagination are definitely my favorite.
When I’m not feeling confident about things, I pick this book up and start reading. The truth of manifesting, visualizing, and imagination speaks straight to my spirit. My higher self perks back up and takes over. This book will magically put you into your vortex and you’ll see your manifestations appear before your eyes.
The Power of Intention by Wayne Dyer
You can’t go wrong with reading any of Wayne Dyer’s books! My spiritual upbringing was inspired greatly by the late, great Wayne Dyer. It’s through Wayne that I discovered Neville Goddard, as he references him in his work.
I learned early that my thoughts create my reality through his books. He wrote a book based on the Tao Te Ching entitled, Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life, and I was blessed to have seen him live at his conference in Denver barefoot and glowing on stage. His spirit still lives with me.
Write your dreams and desires on paper.
I carry a composition book with me wherever I go. I write down my dreams, goals, ideas, business outlines, course outlines… you name it. I like wide rule comp books with no frills, no pictures… just blank pages waiting for me to fill them with my imaginings, downloads, inspirations, and doodles.
There’s a certain power in transferring your imaginings into words. Writing words on paper helps to further set your intention and solidify the ethereal to the physical realm making things feel even more possible. And since we are spiritual beings having a human experience, it matters to address both worlds: our humanity (the physical) and our spirituality (the mental). Writing is the perfect medium to connect the two.
Here are a couple of journaling tools that I recommend.

Or if you like visuals, inspirational quotes, and prompts to get your imaginary juices flowing, this journal is for you!
Create a Vision Board
Vision boarding used to be much easier back in the day when everyone had magazines! The concept is to cut out pictures and words of things that excite you that you’d like to be, do, or have in the near future. In today’s digital world, you can create a vision board on Canva or build boards on Pinterest.
I still enjoy a tangible vision board and thought this Vision Board Book on Amazon looked interesting!
I also have a couple of free Vision Board Printables that you can download instantly here: https://charlenemurphy.com/free-printables/
The tools I recommend here have one thing in common… they are all visual tools. That’s how I best manifest, by first seeing in my imagination and then transferring those images into physical visual reminders. You might be different and want to listen to an audiobook rather than read a book. Music might be your muse that unlocks your imagination. You may prefer to speak your manifestations into reality with your friends and family or use mantras and affirmations. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to manifesting tools, but I will say that all manifestations first begin in your imagination! The supporting tools are entirely up to your preference.
Have fun with this and manifest well. Happy 2024!
